Meikle White Hill, with spur extending west
Meikle White Hill (the peak to the left - see also NS4478 : Meikle White Hill from the north) falls away gradually to the west as a long spur, although this narrows in places to resemble a line of conjoined hills; these slopes finally reach the level of the moor in a different gridsquare.
Meikle and Little White Hill
Meikle White Hill and the adjacent Little White Hill are shown collectively as the "Whyit Hills" on the early Pont/Blaeu map of the Lennox; the surveying work for that map was carried out in the 1580s-90s.
