The Red River at Menadarva
The Red River at Menadarva
The river is more reddy-brown nowadays but at the height of the tin extraction industry, even in the recent past, the water was bright red owing to the mineral particles in suspension. The banks are artificially straight here because in the past the river was adapted by the local tin streaming works, which extracted tin from the alluvial deposits.
