The Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas - Collingwood Monument
Admiral Lord Collingwood of Hethpool and Coldburn (as he became) was born in 1748 in The Side, very close to what was then the church of St. Nicholas, and was baptised and married in the church. He took full control of the British fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 after Nelson had been mortally wounded. Collingwood died at sea in 1810 and was buried next to his friend Lord Nelson in St. Paul's Cathedral.
