J4499 : Millbay pier, Islandmagee
taken 31 years ago, near to Duffstown, Magheramorne and Ballylumford, Northern Ireland

Millbay pier, Islandmagee
Limestone is common in east Antrim. There were several piers erected around the coast of Islandmagee to facilitate its export. I have not been able to trace a source which gives all locations. The pier, in the townland of Carnspindle, is however recorded as having been completed in 1834 for one Archibald Donnan at a cost of £450. It seems that it was subject to silting and fell into disuse. Magheramorne quarry is in the background. J4499 : Millbay pier, Millbay, Islandmagee (May 2017) shows a similar view in 2017.
