Cliffs of Moher
Cliffs of Moher
This view south-west along the line of the Cliffs of Moher takes in a number of interesting features. The horizontal slab in the foreground is limestone (although it looks like an artificial concrete slab). The markings on its surface are 300 million years-old worm casts, such as might be seen on a sandy beach at low water. Just beyond the slab is a small pinnacle of harder rock that has survived weathering. In the distance is the Moher Tower, a former watch tower from the time of the Napoleonic Wars, and to its right, the mound known as Hag's Head.
