SX6870 : Moorland above Venford reservoir

taken 15 years ago, 3 km from Holne, Devon, England

Moorland above Venford reservoir
Moorland above Venford reservoir
It is difficult to see, but a leat follows the contour to the left. It makes a circuit of the head of the valley in which Venford reservoir is built, unseen to the right. These days the leat is not operational and not always in water. Various breaches cause the water to carry on downhill, resulting in some very soggy patches downstream.
