Troye Bridge Name Plaque
The tile name plaque was recovered from earth at the base of a tree stump to the south side of the track that passes over the bridge. It was found during a survey of the arch to determine the degree of repair necessary. Originally it would have been mounted on the bridge parapet wall. No record exists to determine whether it faced the crossing track, as at nearby Raven Arch, or the lane passing under, as at Stony Dene Bridge, a mile to the north. Some bridges had separate name and date plaques.
