NS4969 : The Titan Crane - viewing platform

taken 17 years ago, near to Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland

The Titan Crane - viewing platform
The Titan Crane - viewing platform
The viewing platform is about 150 feet above the ground; it is fenced in, for obvious reasons, but is otherwise open to the elements. The viewing platform is reached by a lift, which is also the means of returning to ground level; however, as a back-up, the steps in the foreground provide access to stairs that are housed in a separate column: NS4969 : The Titan Crane from below.

The crane's winch-house is located behind the photographer's position: NS4969 : The Titan Crane - winch-room.

The photograph was taken two weeks after the crane first opened to visitors.
