I worked for Midland Bank HSBC for 32 years and spent all but the last two in Birmingham Branches. I am photographing all the branches, or what's left of them, as they were when I joined Midland Bank in 1963. The branches all start with the sorting code 40-11.
This was the 401 Witton Road Branch on the busy Witton Island. The blue roller shutters under the Witton Lane road sign cover the original manager's room. Many original features have been retained including the night safe on the outside and counter fixtures inside. The owner was kind enough to allow photographs to be taken inside.
