Swanland Road, North Mymms
Swanland Road, North Mymms
Photographed from Dixons Hill Road, looking south. This junction was built so traffic could cross the A1 via a bridge. Before this, local traffic had to use a notoriously dangerous crossroads just to the north at what is now Dixons Hill Close. Swanland Road was built as part of the Barnet By-pass in the 1920's. It was later that it became the A1, when a renumbering occurred in the 1930's. A new dual carriageway was built just to the west which meant Swanland Road was relegated to being a minor local road.
