Hackworth Park
This footpath which bisects the park lies over a short stretch of the
bygone Surtees’ Line of the Stockton and Darlington Railway.
As the path disappears into the mist, and about to join Main Street,
the gradient rises to a challenging 1-in-20.
In the past that ascent would have been very hard work for the primitive locomotives and engine-drivers alike.
