The problem for Carnoustie's Coast
A grey but dramatic scene across Carnoustie Bay, a high tide combined with large waves. A large amount of money has been spent on coastal defences along Barry Sands NO5530 : The view to Gaa Sand and Carnoustie Bay NO5634 : Coastal defences Carnoustie Beach. The history of the coastline in this area is one of considerable change. The interplay of The Tay Estuarine area and the North Sea has created a highly dynamic dune system across Barry Buddon, which extended along this part of the coast until relatively recently. The effect of the most recent changes will be interesting to observe.
