SK4929 : Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station

taken 17 years ago, near to Ratcliffe on Soar, Nottinghamshire, England

Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station
Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station
From the new bridge leading to East Midlands Parkway Station. The station opened just one week before this picture was taken.
The stub of track just visible at the bottom of the picture to the right of the main lines is the remains of the southern rail access into the Power Station. With the closure of pits in the Leicestershire coalfield, coal ceased to be brought from the south and the connection was severed. Since then new buildings have been constructed where the railway used to run.
