Once a railway bridge crossed here
Once a railway bridge crossed here
The railway crossed the Tweed by a bridge here, just downstream of the footbridge. The line passed to the right of the house near centre, on a bridge '257 feet long formed of four spans of wrought-iron bowstring girders' (History of Peebles 1850-1990, J L Brown & I C Lawson, Mainstream Publishing, Edinburgh 1990)
