James Scott Skinner Gravestone, Allanvale Cemetery.
Scott Skinner was the maestro of the fiddle, the "Strathspey King". Born in Banchory 1843, died 1927, many of his tunes are regularly played today eg "The Bonnie Lass o' Bon Accord". His grave lies across the Great Southern Road from the Duthie Park, Aberdeen.
NJ9304 : Duthie parkThis fine photograph is of the old boating lake in Duthie Park. There were canoes for hire here in the 1960s and it was a favourite haunt for folk with model yachts. Tastes have changed today! The round pond above this one, across the cricket pitches, had paddle boats.
