SD6080 : Underley Bridge

taken 16 years ago, near to Kearstwick, Cumbria, England

Underley Bridge
Underley Bridge
A private bridge over the River Lune.
The stone wall on the opposite bank upstream of the bridge is clearly to prevent erosion and protect the bridge.
Despite the calm river, erosion was at work upstream of the wall (through the bridge) as stones clattered down as a thaw was taking place.
