Harbourmaster's House Dysart
Harbourmaster's House Dysart
Seen across the inner harbour the Harbourmaster's House was built in the early 19th century as a warehouse and home for the Harbourmaster. Surrounded by mines Dysart was an important port for the export of coal whilst imports included timber, pantiles, wines and spirits. The building has recently been restored as the HQ of the Fife Coastal Path Network and it also has a very fine cafe and interpretation centre. Its address is the quaintly named,'Hotpot Wynd'. Readers of RLS famous novel,'Kidnapped' will recall that the ship in which David Balfour was kidnapped was the brig, 'Covenant' of Dysart.
