SD5087 : Weir at Wilson Place

taken 17 years ago, near to Sedgwick, Cumbria, England

Weir at Wilson Place
Weir at Wilson Place
A minor obstacle for kayakers and canoeists at this level, the weir nevertheless deserves a certain amount of respect, as there is a retentive stopper in the centre and a bigger drop to river left, and even the normal line on river right can get a big stopper in higher water. The footbridge seems popular with walkers, but doesn't give them a view of the weir.
