TL8063 : Moat of former Little Saxham Hall

taken 15 years ago, near to Little Saxham, Suffolk, England

Moat of former Little Saxham Hall
Moat of former Little Saxham Hall
The moats of this old hall, demolished in 1793, form a complex pattern. There are two three-sided moats, linked by a fish pond. It is suggested that one of the moats surrounded an even earlier manor house, which had disappeared before the building of Little Saxham Hall commenced in 1505.
