Geograph - photograph every grid square

taken 15 years ago, near to Southerndown, The Vale of Glamorgan/Bro Morgannwg, Wales

Eroded limestone pavement - Dunraven Bay

I would be grateful for any information as to how this 'erosion' might have taken place. In my ignorance I would assume that pockets of softer sedimentary rock have merely been worn away to form these fissures and hollows.
