Public footsplash
It is not obvious from the 1:50000 map which side of Gill Beck has the path. On the ground, the reason becomes clear as the path crosses the beck unbridged three times within 200m. This is the third crossing (as you head downstream) and the most difficult. At this summer level one can hop across rocks (but they are slippery) and scramble up roots on the far bank. At higher levels (I've always been here in winter before), the tree trunk provides a way across if your balance is good.
