NS3481 : Cairn at Killoeter

taken 15 years ago, near to Colgrain, Argyll And Bute, Scotland

Cairn at Killoeter
Cairn at Killoeter
This view of a modern marker cairn located on the hilltop includes the low wide mound that it sits upon; the latter, if man-made, is of much greater antiquity than the present-day cairn. The mound can be seen to be greener than the surrounding heathland.

For a closer look, see NS3481 : Cairn at Killoeter (in close-up).

Glen Fruin is visible in the background, behind and slightly to the left of the wooden post of the cairn.

A modern cairn stands upon what may be the grass-covered remains of an ancient cairn; see LinkExternal link (at WoSAS) for details.
