Old Town, Allendale
On OS MapOL43 Hadrian's Wall there are two farms in very close proximity of each other called Old Town and both are in different grid squares.
Keys to the Past Web Site: Part of a range of farm buildings at Old Town is a bastle and date back to the late 16th or early 17th century. It has been altered in later years and was partly rebuilt in 1984. A barn is dated 1821 on the door lintel. The only remains of the bastle today is a very thick east wall, over one metre wide. The other walls are much thinner and probably date to 18th century remodelling.
