Son of Royal Oak - Storm damage
Son of Royal Oak - Storm damage
This tree - about 300 years old - was grown from an acorn from the original Royal Oak in which Charles II hid. In 2000 during a storm this tree lost a number of its branches and it is now rather lopsided as a result. The drastic damage can clearly be seen in this shot. For a full view of the tree from the other side see SJ8308 : The Royal Oak
