Sturminster Newton Mill
Sturminster Newton Mill is an outstanding example of a C16/17 water mill, one of several on the River Stour. Faint traces of the early morning mist that previously covered the area an hour before can still be seen over the weir
Link. There has been a mill on this site since the earliest one recorded here in the Domesday survey. Originally timber framed, the mill was reconstructed during the C17, and extended to the north in the late C18 or early C19 on top of an earlier ashlar base. The C19 machinery is still in working order, with milling demonstrations taking place during the summer months. The undershot water wheels installed in 1849 were replaced by a single water turbine in 1904. Grade II listed.
