NS0361 : St Ninian's Chapel, Isle of Bute

taken 15 years ago, near to Straad, Bute, Argyll And Bute, Scotland

St Ninian's Chapel, Isle of Bute
St Ninian's Chapel, Isle of Bute
The chapel of St Ninian (6th/7th century), on the bay of the same name - the two houses on the left have no electricity- or gas-supply (and perhaps no mains water) but appear to be in use as holiday-homes. St Ninian was a missionary whose base was at Whithorn on the Solway Coast (and he had a great eye for a view - every place I have been which bears his name has a wonderful outlook!); he travelled along the western seaboard of Scotland spreading the Christian faith.
