Mossband Viaduct and Cumberland Gap Plaque
View of the southwest side of the reconstructed Mossband Viaduct on the M6 extension between Carlisle and Guards Bridge (Gretna). On the right is the new all-purpose road for non-motorway traffic and beyond the fence is the new M6 extension. Left of the plaque and emerging from under the viaduct is the slip road from Mossband House and the West Coast Main Line Railway.
The plaque reads: This plaque is to commemorate the completion of the extension of the Carlisle to Guards Bridge Scheme known as the ‘Cumberland Gap’ opened on the 5th December 2008 50 years after the Preston Bypass. By Andrew Adonis Minister of State for Transport.
