Dismantled Railway
Dismantled Railway
Formerly the branch line to New Romney from Appledore via Lydd and Dungeness. The original line ran to the west and was closed when this new realigned section opened in 1937 to serve the new planned resorts of Greatstone and Lydd-on-Sea. However, neither were built and the new stations were downgraded to halts in 1954 with the entire line from Dungeness closed in 1967. This section is now used as an access path to the nearby sound mirrors.
