The Heaven family bought the island of Lundy in 1836 and owned it until 1918. During this time it was known as 'The Kingdom of Heaven'.
St Helena's Church was built on the instruction of Rev. Hudson Grosett Heaven and consecrated by the Bishop of Exeter in 1897. The church is typically Victorian and seems very out of place.
