taken 16 years ago, 5 km SSE of Caolasnacon, Highland, Scotland

Ossian's Cave
Ossian's Cave
This tall thin cave, high on the northern face of Aonach Dubh NN1556 : A section of the north face of Aonach Dubh, can be reached by a steep ascent from Achtriochtan, but the final climb to the cave is a difficult 60m rock climb on often wet and greasy rock. This place is not recommended for hill walkers. The cave was formed by a section of basalt dyke that fell away. At one time a visitor's metal box was inside the cave.
