The car is parked on the platform of the old Knowesgate Station, a halt on the Wansbeck Valley Railway ("The Wannie") which meandered across the interior of Northumberland linking Morpeth with Redesmouth on the old Border Counties Railway. The line operated between 1865 and 1966.
