NT3773 : Cornish beam engine, Prestongrange

taken 42 years ago, near to Wallyford, East Lothian, Scotland

Cornish beam engine, Prestongrange
The beam floor (or bob loft) with the indoor end of the beam. Note the catchwings up in the roof. In the event of an over-stroke they would strike wooden blocks on the spring beams, hopefully preventing more serious damage (like a broken cylinder).
