Hartland Quay
This was once a thriving harbour, as long ago in remote areas like Hartland it was easier to transport goods by sea than by the roads, which were only packhorse tracks. Eventually turnpike roads were constructed and the railway reached Bideford, and the harbour fell in to decline. It was often damaged by storms and the quay had disappeared by the mid-20C. However it has now been restored for use by small boats.
