Skidby windmill, a four-sailed tower mill and Grade II listed building, was built in 1821 and is set in over an acre of land, commanding stunning views over the Wolds. In January this year the ogee cap and sails (estimated to weigh 15 tonnes) were moved for the first time since the 1870s by crane and placed in the mill courtyard to enable a £70,000 renovation project to be carried out. At present the cap and two of the sails have been replaced - the remaining two sails can be seen on the courtyard floor awaiting replacement. The adjacent warehouses accommodate the East Riding Museum of Rural Life.
