TQ0473 : Sheep eat grass!

Sheep eat grass!
Sheep eat grass!
The following is from the London Evening Standard of 1987 Aug 11: "Water chiefs are using a new idea to check for leaks at reservoirs - flocks of sheep. Thames Water Authority is grazing flocks on reservoir banks to keep the grass cropped short so that minute leaks can be detected before they become serious. The sheep are cheaper than paying a grass cutting contractor and the lambs and wool are sold to cover the cost of employing a shepherd."

This "new" idea that sheep eat grass is being applied here on the bank of the King George VI Reservoir seen from Stanwell Moor Road.
