Norcott Hill Farm, Northchurch
This picture, of the track that runs past Norcott Hill Farm, is taken from a very similar position to an old picture of the farm Link
(Archive Link
) (Original held by Dacorum Heritage Trust Link
).
I simply walked along the track and my analysis of the site is as follows are:
The Gateway to Norcott Hall (SP9610 : The Gates to Norcott Hall, Northchurch). Norcott Hall (SP9610 : Norcott Hall, Northchurch) is a building which, at first sight appears to be an 18th century Georgian Mansion.
A house (SP9610 : The Farmhouse, Norcott Hill Farm, Northchurch) which might be the original farmhouse.
Entrance to former farmyard (SP9610 : Old Farm House and entrance to farm yard) - all outbuildings appear to be converted to residential.
Two linked farm buildings with backs to the track – one with interesting wood and brickwork (SP9610 : Converted Farm Buildings, Norcott Hill Farm) the wood being just visible in the old photograph.
Entrance to farmyard – which forms a rectangle with converted wooden barns.
Another farm barn (converted) with interesting brickwork.
Gateway showing rear of weather-boarded (and converted) farm buildings (SP9610 : Rear of Barns, Norcott Hill Farm).
Semi-detached chalet bungalows (SP9610 : Farmside and Parkfield, Norcott Hill Farm).
A mid-20th century(?) house and garden.
The track ends about 100 yards further on at a pair of field gates. (SP9610 : North End of the Track past Norcott Hill Farm).
See 'Genealogy in Hertfordshire' website at Link
for further information, old photograph, and some old maps.
