NG6362 : Skerry with ruins

taken 15 years ago, near to Cow Rock [other Features], Highland, Great Britain

Skerry with ruins
Skerry with ruins
The ruin on this skerry appears to be a concrete foundation, probably for a beacon, light, or other marker to help mariners avoid the dangerous rocks here. From a distance, it looks like the conning tower of a submarine (such as the one which appears in the background of nearby NG5846 : Brochel Castle).

In the distant background of this picture can be seen the buoy shown in NG6363 : Skerry and buoy, which is presumably the modern replacement for what once stood here.
