NU0528 : Gate and path to river

taken 15 years ago, near to Chatton, Northumberland, England

Gate and path to river
Gate and path to river
The gate in the south-east corner of Chatton churchyard gives access to a public footpath that goes just a short distance to join the road close to the bridge NU0527 : Road bridge over the River Till. This suggests that it was provided to allow parishioners from the Chillingham side of the river to take a direct route to church in the days when everyone walked.
