The Eaglesham Bi-centenary memorial stone was unveiled by the Marquis of Bute at a ceremony held on 7th May 1972 in acknowledgement of the work of Sheriff James Young and Mr Geoffrey Rhodes. The inscription on the plaque reads 'This plaque was erected by Renfrew County Council and Eaglesham Restoration Joint Committee in acknowledgement of the work of Sheriff J.B.M. Young and Mr G.M. Rhodes towards the preservation of Eaglesham.' The unveiling ceremony was performed on the tercentenary of the granting of the Royal Charter to hold a weekly market and yearly fair.
