L9431 : Tidal rapids

taken 15 years ago, near to Bealadangan, Co Galway, Ireland

Tidal rapids
Tidal rapids
Water is pouring through a shallow, narrow gap as the tide floods into Loch an Aibhnin. This is an extraordinary area with a large number of shallow lochs, interconnected by the tide and sometimes reaching several kilometres inland. A tidal stream connects at spring tides with Loch Fhada L9430 : Loch Fhada and beyond the R374 L9330 : Stream crossing to another, un-named loch.
