Welsh Back, Bristol
Welsh Back, Bristol
The photographer is standing on Bristol Bridge very close to the eastern edge of the grid square where the N-S grid line runs across the bridge. Welsh back is one of the old quays on the floating harbour visible in the foreground which used to be the course of the River Avon until the harbour was built to remove the effects of the huge tide on shipping. The hotel standing on the quay side is the Mercure Brigstowe Hotel. Brigstowe was the original name of Bristol.
