By Scott & Moffatt, 1841-44, who won the competition to rebuild after the previous church was destroyed by fire. It is in a type of Early English Gothic style, and was much lauded when built, e.g.: "On the whole a magnificent work" (the Ecclesiologist). Grade II* listed.
