The Old Man of Hoy
Undoubtedly the highlight of the ferry trip from Scrabster to Stromness is passing close to the Old Man of Hoy on Hoy's west coast. An announcement is made and sightseers gather on the ship's starboard side to stare up at the 450 feet high sandstone stack, made famous in 1966 when Chris Bonington's ascent was televised.
