The path that enters at the bottom of the image, and which continues along the right branch of the junction, is NCN Route 7. The left branch is a short path leading to a gate beside a field. From that gate, the site of the former Mains of Cardross Farm can be seen: NS3976 : Site of Mains of Cardross Farm.

The 1:10560 OS map from 1864 shows a well, located more or less at the place where the path forks; however, there is no trace of that well now.

Mains of Cardross

Mains of Cardross was a farm near the River Leven, 550 metres ESE of present-day Dalmoak Farm (Young's Farm), with which its former fields are now associated.
