The section of wall that is visible in the undergrowth in the right-hand side of the photo is the one referred to in NS3976 : Site of Mains of Cardross Farm; see the WoSAS link in the end-note for further information.

This is about as good a view of the wall as it is possible to obtain without going into the field (the photo was taken from the gate); in any case, little of the wall is visible from this side, because it abuts a steep slope, whose top is located on the near side of the wall; therefore, only the part of the wall that extends above the top of the slope is visible from here.

The full height of the wall can be seen from the other side (i.e., from the adjacent section of the cycle path), although that view is obscured by vegetation for much of the year: NS3976 : Remains of quarry's washing plant.

Mains of Cardross

Mains of Cardross was a farm near the River Leven, 550 metres ESE of present-day Dalmoak Farm (Young's Farm), with which its former fields are now associated.

See a Geograph article Link for much more on this area and its relation to the site of the Cardross residence of King Robert the Bruce.
