Junction of track and cycle path

The path that enters at the bottom of the image, and that continues into the distance, is Route 7 of the National Cycle Network. At this point, another track, part of it lined with boulders, can be seen joining it from the east. As the accompanying map shows, that track leads towards and over a railway bridge, and then to the Renton Road (A82).

The overgrown area to the left of the cycle path, just beyond the junction (i.e., the area in which the tall tree is standing), is of historical interest as the site of an old brickworks; see NS3876 : Site of old brickworks. The site of the crane that is mentioned there would be (in relation to the view in the present photo) somewhere in the undergrowth, out of shot, to the right of the photographer's position.

The Lochs and Glens (North) route covers 214 miles from Inverness to Glasgow. The Lochs and Glens (South) covers 193 miles from Glasgow to Carlisle via the Ayrshire coast, Kirkcudbright and Dumfries. It continues east as the Coast to Coast C2C route to Sunderland.
