SN1328 : St Dogmael's church, Mynachlog-ddu

taken 12 years ago, near to Dandderwen, Pembrokeshire/Sir Benfro, Great Britain

St Dogmael's church, Mynachlog-ddu
St Dogmael's church, Mynachlog-ddu
An almost identical image to the first Geograph for this grid square, which was taken two years earlier.
Originally, as just the northern half of the structure (on the right), this was a single-celled chapel belonging to Black Monks of the Tironian Order at St Dogmael's Abbey, Llandudoch near Cardigan. The southern half was added in the ?C15, and rebuilt in 1889 - two cottages abutting had to be pulled down.
As noted on the earlier image, the church now lies some distance away from the present village of Mynachclog-ddu but old maps show this as the centre.
