Footbridge and permissive footpath west of Beaulieu, New Forest
This footbridge forms part of a permissive footpath which enables a safer route from Hatchet Pond to Beaulieu Mill Dam. This agricultural landscape dates back to medieval times when Cistercian monks and lay brothers cultivated the land, laying out woodlands and hedgerows (which feature many fine mature oak trees, like the ones to the left of the picture).
