Pompey Allbond was here
This buttress on the south side of St Giles has the name 'Pompey Allbond' carved on two sides. A separate inscription nearby has a new block of stone, and then the initial 'A' and the date 1674 - '[P]A 1674'? - see SJ3350 : Weathering and graffiti on St Giles'. 'Wrexham Churches Survey' doesn't record any major building work at that time so possibly he was the master stonemason making some repairs? LinkExternal link
