SK9772 : Ellis' Mill, Lincoln

taken 17 years ago, near to Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England

Ellis' Mill, Lincoln
Ellis' Mill, Lincoln
This mill, on Mill Road, replaced an earlier mill and was built in 1798. It is the only surviving mill out of nine that were on this road, however, it ceased to be a business during WWII. Restoration was carried out between 1977 and 1981. It has been managed by the Museum of Lincolnshire Life on behalf of the Lincolnshire County Council since 1995 and is operated as a working mill by a team of dedicated volunteers.
On my first ever visit to the mill it was unfortunately without two of its sails, which lay nearby.
